Because of the life threatening Prempro side effects, Prempro class actions suits have been filed and the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) and Wyeth have revised the prescribing information
to include a boxed warning stating that estrogens and estrogens plus progestin
should not be used for the prevention of heart disease.
The Prempro class action allegations rely on the fact that the boxed warning now includes risk information from the Women's Health
Initiative (WHI) study about increased risks of Prempro side effects of
heart attacks, stroke, invasive breast cancer, pulmonary embolism (blood
clots), and deep vein thrombosis in postmenopausal women. Estrogens with
or without progestin should be prescribed at the lowest effective doses
and for the shortest duration.
Do you qualify for the Prempro class action suit? On July 11, 2002,
a nationwide Prempro class action suit was filed on behalf of all women
who were prescribed Prempro. As alleged in the Prempro class action suit,
Wyeth and Wyeth-Ayerst Research were named as the defendants in this action
due to their responsibility in manufacturing, promoting, marketing, distributing,
and selling Prempro. The Prempro class action suit wants to inform
the public that Prempro consumers are at an increased risk of harmful
Prempro side effects and/or death. The Prempro class action suit seeks
to establish a medical monitoring fund so that all women who took Prempro
or are still taking Prempro may be tested and treated for its adverse
effects. The Prempro class action suit wants to reimburse monies paid
for the product to provide compensation to all victims for personal injuries
and death caused from Prempro side effects.
