The US drug regulator yesterday strengthened the warning label on yet another class of drug, reflecting an increasing climate of fear over pharmaceutical safety. The Food & Drug Administration issued new guidelines for atypical anti-psychotic drugs, which include Astrazeneca's Seroquel.
The move, which also applied to anti-psychotic drugs Abilify, Zyprexa, Risperdal, Clozaril and Geodon, as well as Symbyax, which is approved for the treatment of bi-polar disorder, is the second move to strengthen drug labelling in under a week.
