L.A. judge removed from painkiller lawsuit case

An appeals court says a Los Angeles judge who acknowledged taking Vioxx should be removed from overseeing dozens of lawsuits involving the painkiller.

In an opinion issued last week, the court concluded that "No reasonable minds could differ on the undeniable appearance of impropriety arising from Judge Peter Lichtman's involvement in the proceeding."
