Legislator joins Vioxx case

The makers of Vioxx on Friday hired a second state legislator to defend the company against a Starr County family?s lawsuit and filed a motion to delay the Feb. 14 trial until after the Texas legislative session ends in May.

...Oliveira, who spoke to The Monitor from Brownsville, said Merck?s defense team hired him as the case?s lead counsel and to participate in other Vioxx cases set in Rio Grande Valley courtrooms because of his experience in similar trials.
