According to Bloomberg, Novartis declined 1.1 percent to 55.25 Swiss francs. Switzerland's largest drugmaker withdrew an application for European Union approval of its experimental Prexige treatment. Novartis is awaiting the outcome of a safety review of painkillers similar to Merck & Co.'s Vioxx.
