ADHD has become a lightning rod for those who claim that the pharmaceutical industry conjures illusory disorders in order to develop new markets, and that the psychiatric profession serves as handmaidens in that cause. But the extent of "sloppy" or deliberately deceptive overdiagnosis is far exceeded by the prevalence of undiagnosed ADHD -- the undiagnosed considerably exceeds the misdiagnosed, particularly when referring to the "quiet" inattentive type of ADHD.
