Where Would I Get Tested for Asbestos Exposure?

Currently, it is not possible to test a person to determine whether that person has been exposed to asbestos.

For example, we know that construction workers, maritime shipbuilders, and September 11 World Trade Center rescue workers may have all been exposed to asbestos.

While tests cannot measure how much asbestos was inhaled, it is possible to test for the effects of asbestos exposure. Individuals who may have been exposed to asbestos and who experience symptoms of asbestos related diseases such as persistent coughs, difficulty breathing, weight loss or other symptoms may be tested for mesothelioma, asbestosis, or adenocarcinoma.
