Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma Cancer
Malignant pleural mesothelioma is a fatal disease caused by asbestos exposure. A
form of cancer, this malignant pleural mesothelioma can affect the sac lining of the
chest or the abdomen. Oddly enough, the does not manifest itself for 30, 40, or
sometimes even 50 years following asbestos exposure.
There
are 3 types of malignant pleural mesothelioma cancer:
Pleural cancer also known as pleural pleural mesothelioma is a rare form of
cancer that affects the mesothelial cells around the heart, lungs, or abdominal
organs. The most common type of pleural mesothelioma is the one which affects the
pleura, the thin membrane between the lungs and the chest cavity. This type is
known as pleural pleural mesothelioma and suffers may experience symptoms such as
shortness of breath, breathing difficulties, persistent coughing, chest pains,
weight loss, and have trouble swallowing. Another type of cancer is Peritoneal Mesothelioma.
Peritoneal pleural mesothelioma is also a malignant pleural mesothelioma but is
not as common as pleural mesothelioma. Peritoneal pleural mesothelioma affects the
peritoneum membrane of the abdomen. These tumors can also be found in the
stomach and abdominal organs. Peritoneal pleural mesothelioma patients may experience
symptoms that include stomach pains and abdominal swelling, nausea, loss of
appetite, vomiting, bowel obstruction, and blood clotting abnormalities.
The rarest type of pleural mesothelioma cancer is pericardial mesothelioma which
affects the tissue and cavity surrounding the heart. People diagnosed with
pericardial pleural mesothelioma may experience symptoms such as shortness of breath,
chest pains, persistent coughing, and heart palpitations.
