There are 3 types of malignant pleural mesothelioma cancer:

Pleural cancer also known as pleural pleural mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that affects the mesothelial cells around the heart, lungs, or abdominal organs. The most common type of pleural mesothelioma is the one which affects the pleura, the thin membrane between the lungs and the chest cavity. This type is known as pleural pleural mesothelioma and suffers may experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, breathing difficulties, persistent coughing, chest pains, weight loss, and have trouble swallowing. Another type of cancer is Peritoneal Mesothelioma.

Peritoneal pleural mesothelioma is also a malignant pleural mesothelioma but is not as common as pleural mesothelioma. Peritoneal pleural mesothelioma affects the peritoneum membrane of the abdomen. These tumors can also be found in the stomach and abdominal organs. Peritoneal pleural mesothelioma patients may experience symptoms that include stomach pains and abdominal swelling, nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, bowel obstruction, and blood clotting abnormalities.

The rarest type of pleural mesothelioma cancer is pericardial mesothelioma which affects the tissue and cavity surrounding the heart. People diagnosed with pericardial pleural mesothelioma may experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pains, persistent coughing, and heart palpitations.
