CLASS ACTIONS: NEW FIELD, SAME GAME?

Some plaintiffs lawyers appear less worried about the
impact of the Class Action Fairness Act on their
practices than might be expected. Even ATLA member
Stephen Tillery - name partner in the firm that won a
$10 billion verdict against Philip Morris USA Inc.
and perhaps the most famous class action lawyer in
the most famous pro-plaintiff jurisdiction - says his
firm will simply switch to federal court. And another
attorney says there might be some surprises in store
for businesses that pushed for the law.
