COX-2, Novartis and Pfizer FDA seeks advice on safety warning

Experiential painkiller Prexige showed the risk of heart attack, stroke and deaths similar to Merck & Co. Inc.'s now withdrawn Vioxx said U.S. regulatory staff in the documents released on Friday....
FDA staff member said that Prexige shows risks similar to ibuprofen, but greater cardiovascular risks as compared to naproxen thou Prexige has shown less complaints over the stomach problems. Naproxen and ibuprofen are part of a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which can cause ulcers and other gastrointestinal problems.
