Infant Car Seat Alert

If you baby is currently contained in an Evenflo Discovery car seat, get rid of it now! Consumer Reports just crash tested the Evenflo Discovery model and it's unacceptable - a big car seat safety risk. During the testing of many car seats, some of the car seats twisted violently, and four car seats flew off their bases. Even the government's testing of Evenflo Discovery was not acceptable.

If you are buying an infant car seat, either buy the Graco SnugRide with E-P-S and the Baby Trend Flex-Loc. Both cost $90.

The following four infant car seats did not perform well in Consumer Reports' tests using the LATCH system. But they did fine when tested with safety belts. If you own one of these seats, Consumer Reports recommends installing them by using seatbelts. They are: Chicco KeyFit, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP, Compass 1410, and Evenflo Embrace.
