A recent National Highway Traffic Safety Administration survey shows the top ten driver distractions leading to crashes or near-crashes are: using a cell phone; chatting and interacting with passengers; reaching for compact discs or other internal distractions; programming radio stations or tinkering with the dashboard; using an electric razor, applying makeup or actions related to personal hygiene; unwrapping a burger or other packaging when eating at the wheel; external distractions such as pointing out billboards; talking or singing to oneself; smoking and daydreaming.
