Common Misconception: Babies in Car Seats Are Safe

Common Misconception: Babies in Car Seats Are Safe

Responsible parents put their babies in car seats and their children in booster seats. You buy what you think are trusted brands in hopes of protecting your children. You're doing everything right, so what's the problem?

Consumer Reports recently conducted their own car seat safety testing. Guess what? Only two car seats out of 12 passed the test. This is pretty scary to a parent who has one of these seats installed in their car to protect their young child. The CEO of Evenflo disputes these charges and the conflict continues all at the cost of your child's safety. To see the sparring of Consumer Reports and the CEO of Evenflo, see: the CNN interview video.

The two car seats that passed the car crash safety test are: Graco Snug Ride and Baby Trend Flex-Lock. And the two worst car seat offenders are: Eddie Bauer Comfort and Evenflo Discovery

Eddie Bauer Comfort did not fit on at least five vehicles and the Evenflo Discovery did not even pass the federal government's standard test. The Evenflo Discovery base came away from the car seat and flung the child (test dummy) forward. Consumer Reports is calling for an immediate recall of Evenflo Discovery.
