Light Duty Work

When is it appropriate for you to return to work, even if it is light duty? When is it appropriate for your employer to alter the work routine to fit your partially recovered injury? When can they deny you the right to return to work because it would not be safe for you or for others. There are two sides to every one of these questions. You doctor may have released you back to work with restrictions, but your employer may not be providing a safe work environment that matches those restrictions. So it may be that you want to go back to work, but cannot because of the restrictions. It is a tricky situation and one that requires that you properly document the restrictions so that you can maximize your rights to receive treatment and get healthy, while preserving your right to income (either from working or from your workers compensation benefits). A lawyer can often help you determine what are the steps to take to protect your rights, your treatment, and your income.
