The Company Doctor

Your employer may supply a doctor for medical care or provide you with a panel of doctors to choose from. This may be good, in that they will pay for the care. But it may be bad, if those doctors do not have your best interests at heart. Thus, we advise you to be cautious and to consider obtaining a second opinion from a doctor you trust. The company doctor gets paid by the company, so remember that they have a financial interest or incentive form the employer who pays the bills. You can get a second opnion at your own expense at any time. And if surgery is recommended, you should be able to get the employer to pay for the second opnion. In addition, after the first 90 days, you should be able to select your own doctor, and not the company doctor.
