Finding a LASIK Surgeon

The process of finding a LASIK surgeon can be confusing. If you are considering a refractive surgery for vision correction, such as LASIK surgery, finding a qualified doctor is top priority. No matter what type of refractive surgery you are considering, whether it is LASIK surgery, PRK, or custom Wavefront, cost is often a concern. The cost of refractive surgery varies, and depends on your prescription, corneal thickness, and on the procedure that you choose.

LASIK can typically correct Nearsightedness (Can clearly see things up close, but things far away look blurred ), Farsightedness (Can see things that are far away better than things that are up close ), and Astigmatism (Causes a distortion of vision much like a funny mirror at an amusement park (round clock might look elongated) or Many people with myopia or hyperopia have some degree of astigmatism).

If you are an adult, have myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism, you are likely to be a good candidate for LASIK surgery. Overall, good candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be in good general health
  • Have no health issues affecting your eyes
  • Have no active eye conditions which may affect healing
  • Have a stable vision prescription for at least one year
