What are the PROBLEMS with TISSUE TRANSPLANTS?

Our 'highly sophisticated' system of tissue collection, testing, storage, management, and dispensing has problems. We unfortunately rely only on an Honor system If the donor lies about any of the key questions, the tissue supply is at risk.

The problems include:

  • Shortage of tissue donors and therefore system is ripe for abuse.
  • Poorly supervised collection, storage and testing.
  • Depends on free tissue/organ donors and there are not enough of them
  • Public not aware of the problems

With an under-supply, the high demand creates profit incentive which is leading to cheating in the system. Theft of bodies, lies about safety, and thus diseased tissue is entering the market and ultimately entering the bodies of an unknowing public.

Thousands need the tissue/organs with growing waiting lists for a limited supply of Blood, Liver, Kidney, Heart, and Lung tissue and organs has led to this epidemic size problem. In addition, there is a shortage for Bone allografts such as Spinal surgery, Bone marrow transplant, Skin graft, Tendon replacement, Heart Valves, Cornea operations, and Other tissues.
