Cell Phone Related Car Accidents in PA

Currently, there is no state law specifically preventing cell phone use while driving in Pennsylvania.

However, that does not mean that there are no cell phone related car accidents in PA.  Unfortunately, there are and each year people are hurt and killed because of Pennsylvania distracted drivers.

Why PA Cell Phone Accidents Occur

Generally, cell phone accidents occur because cell phones are distractions to drivers.  A driver may be engrossed in a conversation and not paying attention to what is going on around him, a driver may be looking at his cell instead of at the road, and/or a driver may be texting with his hands instead of keeping his hands on the wheel.

The Danger of Cell Phone Crashes

Some studies suggest that distracted driving impairs a driver to the same degree as drunk driving and that distracted driving is responsible for up to one quarter of all car accidents.

Cell phone related accidents are preventable in Pennsylvania.  People do not have to die or suffer painful injuries.  If you have any ideas for helping drivers commit to putting their cell phones down until they are safely parked, please leave a comment and share your ideas with us.  We join you in your commitment to ending Pennsylvania distracted driving accidents.
