How do I find a DEPO PROVERA lawyer?
Look no further. Monheit Law is knowledgeable and experienced in personal injury and product liability lawsuits for pharmaceutical drugs like DEPO PROVERA.

If DEPO PROVERA is so controversial, why do women still use it?
There will always be some prescription abuse plus others use DEPO PROVERA who have difficulty remembering to take a daily pill, who are using antibiotics or Accutane long-term, who want to make their periods stop altogether, who are post-partum nursing a baby, and who have valvular heart disease. Also Pfizer keeps marketing it like it's the only solution.

What is the best reason NOT to take DEPO PROVERA contraceptive injection?
Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection may cause women to lose calcium stored in bones. The longer Depo-Provera is taken the more calcium is likely to be lost. Calcium may not return completely once Depo-Provera is discontinued. Loss of calcium may cause weak, porous bones that could increase the risk that your bones might break.

Does DEPO PROVERA offer protection from sexually transmitted disease?
No! Be sure to use a condom for protection from STDs and HIV.

What is the osteopenia side effect?
This Depo Provera "side effect" is the precursor of osteoporosis. This type of drop in bone desnity can be tested for. The low bone density test shows if a womes has a condition characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue.

What is a bone desnity test?
The bone density test measures bone mass concentration at various sites in the body. The test can detect osteoporosis before a fracture occurs, predict your chances of fractures and determine the rate of bone loss. This bone test also can monitor the effects of treatment if the test is conducted at intervals of a year or more.

DID you know that a bone density test will tell if you have osteoporosis and help you decide if you should bring a lawsuit against Pfizer?

Isn't osteoporosis an old woman's disease?
That was previously thought to be the case but men of all ages and young women are also prone to osteoporosis. Preventing osteoporosis includes eating a well balanced, calcium rich diet, taking calcium supplements, increasing physical activity including weight bearing exercise, avoiding excessive alcohol, not smoking, as well, as keeping body weight within the normal range.

Women who use Depo-Provera may lose significant bone mineral density. Bone desity testing shows that this bone loss is greater with increasing duration of use and may not be completely reversible.

Should women have a scan to measure bone density before starting Depo Provera or after taking it for a while?
In a perfect world where heath plans honor all requests but most health plans do not readily pay for such tests especially for women under 50.
